Araki International IP&Law Announces the establishment of the AI Practice Group
September 24, 2024 – Araki International IP&Law (AIL) is pleased to announce the launch of its Artificial Intelligence (AI) Practice Group to support and advise businesses developing and deploying AI systems on the legal issues emerging with the rapid evolution of such technologies.
AIL has recently published a first report on the newly enacted European AI Act, offering an overview and practical insights for companies with respect to the application of and compliance with this act. The firm will further analyze additional topics in the upcoming newsletters, such as the global regulation of AI and the approach adopted by the Japanese government towards the AI governance.
AIL’s AI Practice Group consists of a team with expertise and deep understanding of AI and the complex legal challenges it raises. The practice head, Akiko Araki, has advised on data privacy and data licensing matters that are especially important in AI businesses. Additionally, she recently advised on the addition of examination cases related to AI technologies at the Japan Patent Office (JPO), as a committee member of Patent System Subcommittee of the Industrial Structure Council Intellectual Property Committee.
