Ryoichi Sugimura

Overview

Ph.D. (Engineering), Master of Arts in IMPM (International Management)

Graduated from Kyoto University's Department of Information Engineering in 1980 and joined Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. (now Panasonic Corporation). He has held various positions, including serving as Director of the Mobile Network Research Laboratory at the Advanced Technology Research Center and Director of the Basic Systems Development Center at Panasonic Mobile Communications Co., Ltd. In 2012, he joined NTT DOCOMO as Director of Strategic Alliances in the Marketing Division. From 2013 to 2015, he served as Chairman of the TIZEN ASSOCIATION. In 2014, he became Director of Product Innovation in the Product Division. Since 2016, he has been at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), where he served as Senior Innovation Coordinator in the Information and Human Engineering Division before assuming his current role as Chief Collaboration Officer. He is a leading figure in Japan in the field of AI standardization.
