The likelihood of a delay in the application of the European Union (EU) AI Act is increasing. The Council and the European Parliament have recently adopted positions supporting a postponement of the application date for regulations on high-risk AI systems. If the law is amended, the originally scheduled application in August 2026 could be pushed back by more than one year to December 2027. Amid growing uncertainty, how should Japanese companies respond?
